Whether in a Time of Crisis or Not, the Food Bank Helps Those Struggling with Food Insecurity

Madison Elementary in Pasadena hosted a drive-through food distribution for those affected by the fires, but holds regular distributions for those struggling with food insecurity throughout the year.

In a time of need in the middle of tragedy, humanity comes together to support each other. When the wildfires ravaged Los Angeles, millions of people from near and far came together to support those impacted. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank can attest to the support, with thousands of individuals, groups, and businesses stepping up to provide help to those who need it.

Now that the fires have been fully contained, the road to recovery and rebuilding begins. Multiple organizations and government agencies are providing support to help with housing security and rebuilding lives, and the Food Bank has continued providing food assistance to those who have been displaced or struggle with food insecurity.

Madison Elementary in Pasadena recently hosted a drive-through distribution on their campus for their families, and the community in general. Working alongside the LA Regional Food Bank and the CalFresh program, hundreds of boxes of fresh produce, self-stable items, and water were distributed to individuals and families seeking food assistance.

Katia Ahmed, Wellness Coordinator for the Pasadena Unified School District, was among the dozens of volunteers present to help distribute food for this distribution. Throughout the year, Ahmed continues to work alongside the Food Bank and the CalFresh program to support families who may struggle with food insecurity at any point.

“During crises, humanity comes together, and it’s amazing how we reach out and help each other out regardless of the situation we are in,” Ahmed said. “However, in a regular time, we also need to support our families. The LARFB produce distributions, and the work we do with CalFresh helps whether it’s a crisis time or regular time as our families need it.”

Individuals of all ages deserve to have three nutritious meals per day. Your support to the LA Regional Food Bank helps us distribute nutritious food items for a better tomorrow. Consider donating to the Food Bank today.
