Top 5 2023 LA Regional Food Bank Social Media Posts

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank can only fight hunger with the support of our incredible donors, volunteers and partners.

Thanks to everyone who continually shows up, including throughout 2023, helping the Food Bank and our partners provide nutritious food assistance to 900,000 food-insecure neighbors monthly and being part of our reach where we could distribute more than 115 million pounds of food to those in need. This feat includes the opportunity and privilege to tell the story of those whom the Food Bank and our partners see.

One way that the Food Bank can share these stories we are honored to learn about is through our social media networks and the networks of all our collective communities. This blog post highlights some of the most popular social posts throughout the year.

  1. One of the most successful social media posts includes the following Instagram post regarding Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation Volunteer Day at the Food Bank, which garnered one of the most substantial impressions.

The Food Bank is honored to have had Metallica volunteers at the Food Bank again donate their time to fighting hunger in LA County. This effort was connected to their tradition of mobilizing fans worldwide to better their communities. In this case, the volunteer day was related to their two shows at SoFi Stadium. The All Within My Hands volunteer day with Metallica was held on August 25, 2023. Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation donated $20,000 to the Food Bank.

2. Giving Tuesday 2023 was extra special for the Food Bank thanks to multi-hyphenate mogul Chrissy Teigen and her dynamic Cravings team, who volunteered at the Food Bank on November 28, 2023, when they volunteered for an afternoon shift to help pack and organize food resources for those in need at the Food Bank’s City of Industry distribution center, as it was shared on LinkedIn and making it one of the most popular posts from 2023.

3. Nearly 1,200 Los Angeles families received meals with nutritious foods at a holiday food distribution hosted by the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Pechanga Resort Casino at SoFi Stadium on December 5, 2023. The Meta post promoting the grocery giveaway also garnered a lot of social media engagement.

4. On a special volunteer day at the Food Bank, as a partner food bank of Feeding America, Adina Porter, Grant Hall, Marlee Matlin, Lamorne Morris, Julie Bowen and more made a special visit to the Food Bank in April to volunteer their time and energy to help pack food resources for those experiencing food and nutrition insecurity in our communities.

5. To help celebrate season 2 of The Bear on Hulu and Disney teamed up with the Food Bank to help provide over 450,000 nutritious meals to families and individuals in LA County. The gift was bookmarked by a visit to the Food Bank’s downtown LA warehouse and distribution center by some of the show’s stars Chris Witaske and Lionel Boyce.

We hope this year will be another year full of stories of powerful collaboration, helping the Food Bank and our partners close the hunger gap in our communities. Be a hunger hero.
