FAQ Series: What Is The Summer Lunch Program?

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals for children under the age of 18.

Summer is no vacation for families with children who rely on school meals. During the summer months, we provide nutritious lunches for almost 3,000 children at 70 sites.

Summer is harder for us because we lose access to school meals. Healthy foods like milk, meat, fruits and vegetables are not cheap. Last summer was my son’s first year with the Food bank’s Summer Lunch Program and he loved it! He said they even had watermelon.
