Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to Receive Nourishing Neighbors Donations Made at Local Socal Albertsons, Vons and Pavillions in September

LOS ANGELES, CA— September 3, 2021 — The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been selected as a charity partner for SoCal Albertsons, Vons and Pavillions and will receive donations from its annual Nourishing Neighbors campaign aimed at helping ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast.

All donations made at the SoCal Albertsons, Vons and Pavillions will be used to help mobilize resources to alleviate hunger in Los Angeles County.

“Young minds and bodies need a healthy breakfast to kick off their day,” said President and CEO, Michael Flood. “Eating breakfast improves alertness, concentration, mental performance and mood. We’re thrilled to have been selected as the charity partner for the SoCal Albertsons, Vons and Pavillions and are grateful to Albertsons Companies Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors initiative for their ongoing commitment to fighting hunger in our communities.”

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank provides food and grocery products throughout Los Angeles County through relationships with 700 Partner Agencies and through direct distribution programs. The Food Bank and our agency partner network across Los Angeles County have seen a dramatic increase in the need for food assistance ever since the pandemic started in March 2020. It is through partnerships in our community that allow the Food Bank to continue our mission to fight hunger.

Nourishing Neighbors aims to fight hunger by helping keep food banks stocked, supporting meal distribution programs at schools, and supporting programs that provide food to seniors. As a program of the Albertsons Companies Foundation, it is working to eradicate childhood hunger in America. With as many as 1 in 4 children in America at risk of hunger, the funds raised in September will be dedicated to local efforts that ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast.

“Breakfast is essential school supply for kids to learn, grow, and thrive,” said Albertsons Companies President. “We’re grateful to support the important work of community partners like the LA Regional Food Bank. Together we are making our neighborhoods better places for our children to grow up.”

Anyone wishing to support the LA Regional Food Bank through this program can go to SoCal Albertsons, Vons and Pavillions and make a donation to Nourishing Neighbors at checkout September 1- 30.
