NBC4 and Telemundo 52, in partnership with regional food banks, kick off the sixth annual Help for the Hungry campaign from November 20 through December 31, 2023. The initiative aims to raise awareness and funds to provide meals for families in need throughout Southern California during the holiday season.
Individuals can support the fight against hunger by texting H4H to 41444 or by making in-person donations at Ralphs and Food 4 Less supermarkets. Additionally, a QR code will be displayed during newscasts, offering another convenient option for viewers to contribute.
All donations collected, representing 100% of the proceeds, will directly benefit regional food banks and local food pantries in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. Among the supported organizations are Los Angeles Food Bank, Second Harvest Orange County, Feeding America Inland Empire, Food Share Ventura County, and Foodbank of Southern California.
As part of the campaign, NBC4 and Telemundo 52, in collaboration with the Eastmont Community Center, will host a food pantry event on Friday, December 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location is 701 Hoefner Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90022, and food distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The event is supported by partners, including the Los Angeles Foodbank, Goya Foods, Ralphs, and Food 4 Less.
Since its inception in 2018, the campaign has raised over $2.5 million in donations, providing more than 10 million meals across Southern California.
NBC4 and Telemundo 52 will feature stories throughout the campaign during morning shows, mid-day newscasts, and streaming channels. Viewers can tune in to NBC4’s Today in LA from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. and newscasts at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 11 p.m. For Telemundo 52, relevant broadcasts include Noticiero Telemundo 52 morning newscasts at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., Noticiero Telemundo 52 al Mediodía at 12 p.m., and evening newscasts at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m.
