FedEx Celebrates its 50th Anniversary at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

Over 100 FedEx employees helped pack nearly 5,000 food boxes at City of Industry

FedEx® team members celebrated the company’s 50th Birthday by volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in mid-April. The timing was serendipitous as the Food Bank is also celebrating its 50th Anniversary. More than 100 FedEx employees gathered at the Food Bank’s new City of Industry warehouse where they packed 4,816 food boxes that will be distributed to individuals and families in need throughout Los Angeles County, either through direct distribution or a Food Bank partner agency. This event was part of the FedEx Cares “50 by 50” campaign to positively impact the lives of 50 million people.

FedEx volunteer efforts at the Food Bank play a crucial role in addressing the issue of hunger and food insecurity in LA County. Volunteers are central to the Food Bank’s operations, as roughly 126,000 volunteer hours are contributed annually, helping the Food Bank stay highly efficient and serve more individuals in need.

Additionally, FedEx has been a longtime financial supporter of the Food Bank donating more than $430,000 to help provide nutritious food for children, individuals, or seniors in need over the years.

The Food Bank serves as a lifeline for many individuals and families who struggle to put food on the table, providing them with access to nutritious food options that they would otherwise be unable to afford. By volunteering their time and financial resources, FedEx is helping to ensure that the Food Bank can continue to fulfill its mission of providing food to those in need.

Volunteering at the Food Bank allows FedEx team members to build meaningful connections with their local community, fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment beyond their daily work duties.

The Food Bank is grateful to FedEx and its employees for their continued financial support and for volunteering. Together, We Feed LA.
