Thanks to Robert, Metallica and all the Metallica Fans that came out to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank For the Second Annual All Within My Hands Foundation 2019 Day of Service!

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank was proud yet again to be an official site for the Second Annual All Within My Hands Day of Service with Metallica on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.

Metallica fans across the United States took a stand in the fight against hunger by volunteering at their local food banks. In Los Angeles, 100 fans joined Robert Trujillo and our Food Bank team to sort 28,543 pounds of apples and oranges, which will be distributed throughout LA County for our neighbors in need.

“When we’re on stage, we’re performing our songs and we’re in front of all these people, that’s special. There’s magic there. But this, to me, is just as powerful,” said Trujillo.

The Food Bank was also presented with a check for $5,000, which will provide up to 20,000 meals for families, children, seniors and individuals facing food insecurity in our community.

Making A Difference for Families with Children

This event comes at a critical time for our work– just before the summer months when the need for food assistance increases for families with children. Summer break is tough for parents of kids who rely on school meals because those meals become unavailable while school is out. The Annual AWMH Day Of Service raises valuable awareness about food insecurity in our community and in communities throughout the United States and energizes the community members of all ages to get involved in hunger relief.

The event was also attended by Advisory Board Members for All Within My Hands, Chris Anthony and Peter Delgrosso, who worked alongside fans to sort produce for a three-hour shift.

If you couldn’t make it, you can join Metallica in supporting your local Food Bank by making a donation. You can also sign up to volunteer at the Food Bank as an individual or with a group Monday through Saturday.
