At its first Southern Style BBQ, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank was joined by 250 guests, amazing vendors and some of the best chefs in town to put on a 10-course meal that made mouths water.
Guests enjoyed a cheese showcase from Kori Jones and Chefs’ Warehouse before finding their seat at a long table for a family-style meal not to be forgotten. They were served Hot Water Cornbread from City House Nashville and Hot Chicken Wings from the one and only Howlin’ Rays.
“I love what the LA Food Bank does and I wanted to be a part of that and give back,” said Johnny Ray Zone of Howlin’ Rays. “I’m a firm believer in you spread love and love comes back to you.”
The meal continued with Creamed Corn from City House, fresh sides from Chef Nyesha Arrington, Hog & Hominy and City House. We’re not sure how you keep eating after all of that, but when it’s this good, YOU MAKE ROOM.
Next up was Smoked Brisket from Trudy’s Underground BBQ and Collard Greens with Pork Belly from Hog & Hominy. The meal concluded with pies from Valerie Confections and soft-serve ice cream from Milk Bar.
Nothing brings people together like food. (Trust us, we would know.) This family-style event was held in one of the Food Bank’s warehouse spaces located in Los Angeles, where agency coordinators from all over the county receive food to take back home redistribute it to people who are struggling with food insecurity.
Billy Harris has partnered with the Food Bank for several events, including Eat, Drink and Support featuring Dave Grohl, and continues to use his passion for entertainment and food to bring people out to support a really important cause: fighting hunger. His next event to benefit the Food Bank will be in August.
2 million people in LA County don’t know where their next meal is coming from. We can make a difference if we work together.
Howlin’ With Harris raised funds for the Food Bank, including $10,000 from the Wells Fargo Foundation, while also amplifying the conversation around this very urgent issue. These events are valuable for a variety of reasons, and creating community is one of the most important because solving hunger in LA County means all of us will have to do our part.

Much like our daily work, events like this do not happen without a lot of collaboration. We’d like to give special thanks to those who made Howlin’ with Harris such a fun success:
