Former LA fashion executive, Jaye Hersh-Eigler, and her 35 years in the business prepared her to react to the growing need to spare surgical masks for frontline workers quickly. Her background equipped her to create and distribute options for face coverings overnight. That’s when GOTTA HAVE FACE™ was born. Since April, Jaye has created an assortment of non-medical, reusable face masks on gottahaveface.com and has committed 100% of net proceeds to the Food Bank. The company has since donated $10,633 as of May 31st.
“Now more than ever, there is a critical need to help our hungry neighbors,” as stated in their bio. “The LA Food Bank proved to be the obvious choice as the recipient of all GOTTA HAVE FACE™net proceeds because 100% of all funds raised go directly to the community.”
Jaye emphasizes that wearing a mask is a symbol. “It shows that you care about yourself, others and the common good of your community.” In the first month of business, the organization was able to donate enough for 35,000 meals.
This gift will allow the Food Bank to provide food for our neighbors who need us more than ever as the demand continues to swell while unemployment numbers surge. The Food Bank will be able to offer uninterrupted distribution as the number of monthly clients increases from 300,000 to 500,000. The numbers will continue to grow and the current economic hardship will have a lasting impact.
We are thankful to Jaye for her swift reaction and thinking of the Food Bank. You don’t have to be a fashion expert to help the Food Bank fight hunger. You can help your neighbors by turning your passion into a fundraiser or donating time or money if you’re able to help more people than ever.
In addition to the generous donation, GOTTA HAVE FACE™ has started a Team #WeFeedLA fundraiser with a goal of raising an additional $10,000. To donate to the fundraiser, click here.
