Albertsons Companies’ Hunger Is Campaign Raised $450,000 to Fight Hunger

Albertsons Companies’ Hunger Is Campaign Raised $450,000 to Fight Hunger

Generous Community Members Throughout LA County Donated to Support the Children’s Breakfast Program.

The Children’s Breakfast Program is essential for children from food-insecure homes. In September, our community showed compassion for children in need and raised even more money than last year just by donating at checkout.

No Child Should Ever Go Hungry

In Los Angeles County, more than half a million children may not know where their next meal is coming from. And for many of those children, even when there is food in the cupboards, it may not be the most nutritious food as those items tend to be more expensive. The Food Bank’s Children’s Breakfast Program, which is entirely funded by generous donations to the Hunger Is Campaign through the Albertsons Companies Foundation, provides food kits for children from food-insecure homes. These kits contain low-sugar, whole-grain cereal, shelf-stable milk, fresh produce, dried fruit and nuts, fruit juice and other items that are both kid-friendly and nutritious.

Having access to nutritious meals is essential for a child’s healthy physical development but equally important for their mental and emotional health, as well as their ability to perform in school. By giving children in LA County better access to breakfast, Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions and our generous community are also giving them a better chance at a brighter future.

Albertsons Goes Above and Beyond

Breakfast Program Kit

Albertsons Companies is a longtime supporter of hunger relief causes. In addition to raising money at each of their stores, they also donate food from their stores and distribution centers. These contributions equate to millions of dollars in food and financial donations invested each year to help people who need it most. The Food Bank is grateful for community partners like Albertsons, which participates enthusiastically in hunger relief as well as waste prevention.

Thank you to Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions and their many customers who donated to support our mission. Hunger Is beatable!

Anyone Can Be a Fundraiser. That Includes You!

How many friends, colleagues and family members are you connected with on social media or through email? What if every one of them donated between five and $50? And then what if we told you that every dollar donated to the Food Bank turns into up to four meals?

When we work alone, change takes a long time. But when neighbors work together and give what they can, kindness adds up to a whole lot of hope in a hurry.
